My 7 Questions for Weekly Personal Retrospectives

Retrospectives change your life, step by step.

I'm doing personal retrospectives every week, and their benefit is immense.

For these retrospectives, I use 7 questions:

  • What am I struggling with right now?
  • What didn't go well last week?
  • What went well last week?
  • What do I want to learn by the end of this week?
  • What is one thing I will try that will get me out of my comfort zone?
  • Who can I reach out to for help this week?
  • What can I do better next week?

Answering these questions helps me find something to improve every week.

I change these questions from time to time, if I discover a new one that I find more interesting.

You can start with a shorter version that's just the three basic questions:

  • What didn't go well last week?
  • What went well last week?
  • What can I do better next week?
